2019 Inktober Official Prompt List
The challenge has started. All artists have to do is make a drawing with ink every day of the month and post it online. And of course there are hashtags, #inktober and #inktober2019, that can be used to find the latest art.

Jake Park started sharing his ink illustrations in a monthly marathon to perfect his skills and push himself to create more. It has grown into a really positive event for the online art community. It is a chance to embrace fellow artists and post whatever you feel like.

The prompt is totally optional. It can be used for a spark of inspiration or looked at as guard rails to keep you on track. Designers often have to think quickly to come up with creative solutions. It is fun to see how many ideas can come from a single word.

Plein & Simple with John Burton, Part 8: Design & Composition
To award-winning plein air painter, John Burton, the gestation cycle of a painting starts with drawing, then value, then color. However, at every stage of this process, he considers design and composition--the contrast, value structure, shapes, even the brushstrokes! In Part 8 of this mini series, John explains what goes into the outstanding design and composition of a painting.
